sin

IS GOD THE ONE I HONOR, OR MYSELF?

Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness! (Psalms 115:1)

How often throughout a normal day do we consciously think about God being seen as wonderful in our lives? How apparent is our submission to God rather than our honoring of our own desires? I’m thinking that wrong choices in our lives would not happen except that we ignore the incredible majesty of God for our own “good” ideas. Have you ever seen a two year old think they have a better idea than their parent? Oh yes! No matter how clever we think we are we never have a better idea than God. Until we totally embrace the idea of God’s superiority in everything, we will struggle with sin. To God be all glory!

Plan to have Days 4 and 5 of Chapter 8 ready to discuss this Thursday morning at Ladies Bible Study. Also, if you didn’t get to hear Enriko’s message from Sunday morning on “Glory-giver,” take the time to watch it on Livestream before Thursday morning.

HE BECAME SIN, WHO KNEW NO SIN

One of the most outstanding things God has said deals directly with Himself, you, and me.  2 Corinthians 5:21"For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."  It is beyond our little minds to fully comprehend how God, who spoke and the vast universe came into being, humbled himself and became a human so that he could suffer and die for what we have done wrong.  Amazing grace--amazing love!

He became sin, who knew no sin
That we might become His righteousness
He humbled himself and carried the cross

Love so amazing, love so amazing

Some deeper thoughts about this great event in history that we celebrate this weekend.  "Christ knew no sin. He was made Sin; not a sinner, but Sin, a Sin-offering, a Sacrifice for sin. The end and design of all this was, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him, might be justified freely by the grace of God through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus. Can any lose, labour, or suffer too much for Him, who gave his beloved Son to be the Sacrifice for their sins, that they might be made the righteousness of God in him?"  Alexander MacLaren

Yes, we are having Ladies Bible Study tomorrow (Thursday) and studying 2 John.  Also, don't forget Good Friday service at 7 and a great celebration on Sunday of the Resurrection at 10:30 preceded by a Sea of Galilee breakfast at 9:15.
