BEING STILL AND MOTHER'S DAY

family photo.jpg

Displayed on the wall of our family room is this wonderful picture of our family taken about 3 years ago; at the bottom of the frame are all the little ones that have been added since then with question marks for sweet babies that are on their way.  Having raised eight children I know how crazy busy a mom's life can be.  Days filled to the brim and overflowing with laundry, cleaning, cooking, shopping, and endless questions from and input into young lives. So, how is sanity and stability maintained during such intense times?

The most stabilizing time of the day for me during the 41 years we had children at home, and even now with a busy "empty nest," was and is to have quality quiet time alone with the Lord--reading the Bible, praying, and just thinking about Him and His ways.  My soul thrives on this habit and a thriving soul gives life to life.  No one is exempt from needing such richness in their soul.  But, realize that it cannot be gained any other way--there are no shortcuts, or substitutes.

May this be your best Mother's Day ever because of time spent alone with the Lord.  Psalm 46:10a  "Be still, and know that I am God."  Joshua 1:8  "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."

No coffee at my house this Thursday--but, on Friday we will be leaving the church at 10 to go to Yorleny's home in Lakewood.  Bring a "brunchy" dish to share.
