Rachel's Gods and You

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Although many verses in the Bible give a good concise message concerning living a God-centered life, years ago I settled on Proverbs 3:5-6 as the ones I would focus on. I love the simplicity and straight-forwardness of these verses. With our natural bent to want what we want we need continual reminders to trust God and not our own understanding. The beauty of trust God clearly shows in a flourishing soul in contrast to the shriveled soul that follows their own way.

As we begin our fall study of “Idols of the Heart”, we will see that trusting God—no matter the situation—always brings life to our lives. I am looking forward to meeting with you Thursday morning at 9:30 at DBC for a great time of encouraging one another to trust God completely for our lives. Our dear Summer will be with us to provide child care. Also we plan to Livestream for those who cannot be with us in person.

Fall Thursday Morning Bible Study

Ladies, I am writing to you from Kiev, Ukraine to let you know our fall Bible study will begin on Thursday morning September 21 at 9:30. I know you will be blessed as we study together Elyse Fitzpatrick’s book “Idols of the Heart.” Although this study does not go directly through a book of the Bible as we normally do, it is heavily laden with Scripture. I will also have fairly extensive study sheets for you to work on in preparation for each week’s lesson.

A couple of questions printed on the back of this book might give you a bit of a taste for what is addressed in this study. “Do you feel discouraged—even defeated—in your battle against sin? Are you dismayed or surprised by the situations that bring out your fear, anger, or distress?”

You can purchase this book online. Be sure you get the revised and updated edition. Let me know if you need me to get it for you.

Please pray for me as I encourage women here in Kiev.

“The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.” Psalm. 103:8
