Dear Flock,
Church was just out when men suddenly came with sledge hammers and began attacking a wall. In minutes a garage-door-sized hole appeared in what is now our foyer. It was our "Breakthrough Sunday" in 2002. Later we had our Being the Light banquet there. Limited room for a potluck resulted in serving tables outside that cold November night. We ate in the two class rooms now joined by the hole in the wall. We prayed and people committed themselves to the project. The result was our new auditorium to serve as a lighthouse for teaching God's Word. It was dedicated in 2005.
This weekend will be another historic event. Sunday morning I will speak on Christ's promises for His church and His work here. Sunday evening our Ministry and Faith Celebration banquet (5:30PM) and will focus on our final expansion. We will commit ourselves to prayer for the next week concerning what God would have each of us to do. Caleb Suko and Joe Parkinson will be key speakers. If you have not signed up, be sure to do so on our website here http://www.discoverybaptist.org/banquet , or on the Community or in the foyer. The food is provided and there is no charge. Child care and a kids program are also provided.
This is a night of celebration, fellowship, information, challenge, and prayer as we look to the future for our final building project to maximize our site. Then we'll ask you to commit your part to prayer for a week. God has opened the door so now is the time for us to trust the Lord for the next step.
Our board will be there to greet you and answer questions. They are all committed to doing their part as well so the Gospel of Christ can go forward in a greater way in the generations to come.
