Ladies, this is a quick heads-up to let you know we will be starting the book of Titus section of our study guides this Thursday morning. As I reviewed the final section of our last lesson, I realized most of it we had already discussed. I’ll have a couple of comments to conclude 2 Thessalonians, then we will go directly to Titus.
“Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way.“ 2 Thessalonians 3:16
“I want to call particular attention to the apostle’s words in this place. He does not say ‘May the Lord of peace send his angel to give you peace.’ It were a great mercy if he did, and we might be as glad as Jacob was at Mahanaim, when the angels of God met him. He does not even say, ‘May the Lord of peace send his minister to give you peace.’ If he did we might be as happy as Abraham when Melchizedec refreshed him with bread and wine. He does not even say, ‘May the Lord of peace at the communion table, or in reading the word, or in prayer, or in some other sacred exercise give you peace.’ In all these we might well be as refreshed . . . but he says ‘the Lord of peace himself give you peace,’ as if he alone in his own person could give peace, and as if his presence were the sole means of such a divine peace as he desires.” (Spurgeon)
As we begin the conclusion of 2 Thessalonians this Thursday morning, may we be encouraging one another in knowing this peace that only God can give us. What an incredible privilege those of us who belong to God have of access to this beautiful peace of the soul that the whole world longs for but can never find apart from God. I’m looking forward to seeing you.
The Lawless One Part 2
Currently the world abounds with wicked rulers. Putin stands out in most of our minds when we consider what possibly the Antichrist might look like. However, the man the Bible also calls the “lawless one” will bring wickedness to a whole new level. Think about these two verses that give a brief description of the Antichrist.
Revelation 13:6 “It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven.”
2Thessalonians 2:4 “…who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.”
This Thursday morning our Ladies Bible Study will look at more Scriptures that describe the Antichrist. Plan to join us as we learn what God says about this “man of sin” and as we find encouragement concerning our place in God’s plan during the time of this evil man’s rule on earth.
Livestream is available at discoverybaptist.org ,as well as, archived videos of past studies. Thank you for joining us.
