This past Sunday morning our church (Discovery Baptist) sang together this deeply meaningful song. My heart responded with great thankfulness to God for His amazing gift of eternal life. In combination with thoughts about what really produces a vibrant church such as Paul talks about in 1 Thessalonians 1 I realized that a passionate appreciation of what God has done in forgiving our sins is the irreplaceable foundation for any local church that is truly alive.
VERSE 1
Blessed is the one whose sins are overcome
Whom God has sheltered deep within His grace
Blessed is the one who trusts in God the Son
His steadfast love the sinner’s hiding place
CHORUS
Jesus, Your blood covers all my sin
Jesus, Your love draws my heart to sing
What a Savior, Jesus
VERSE 2
I will always hide at my Savior’s side
I find my refuge in His sovereign care
When the waters rise, God will hear my cries
His steadfast love will hold me safely there
This attitude of heart among the Thessalonian church is what caused Paul to say, “We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers, remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father.” 1 Thess. 1:2-3
This Thursday morning a brand new study begins on 1 Thessalonians. If you did not get a book yet, I’ll have one for you on Thursday. Plan to have the first half of Lesson 1 studied and ready to discuss. Child care is available.
For ladies watching online please note that we should be LIVE at 9:30 this Thursday and then I believe the study will be archived so that it can be watched any time after we are done. Thank you for joining us!!
